WORKING CONDITION: Good. Martin guitars before 1985 do not have a truss rod, so the action is a little on the high side. Playability is good up to the seventh fret. This can be corrected with a neck reset or bridge shave. The sound of this D-35 is, however, excellent.

PHYSICAL CONDITION: Fair. There is a small body crack on the bass side that is not moving, and the body, behind the bridge, is pulling up ever so slightly. This is a long-term, slow-moving change that presents no playing issues right now. There is also some finish checking on the top of the guitar, which is common for a 50-year-old vintage instrument. The bass side binding has a split in it at the 9th fret. The neck feels really good, and the frets are in good condition.
