Details
WORKING CONDITION: Very Good. This amp sounds big for its size and would be an excellent recording and/or practice amp, due to its headphone output. All of the jacks and pots are solid, and the real analog spring reverb is robust and smooth. The Yamaha G-5 was a favorite practice amp of both Zakk Wylde and Jerry Garcia.
PHYSICAL CONDITION: Very Good. There are some small signs of age in the wood cabinet, but all of the jacks, potentiometers, and the power switch are solid. This is a very cool amp!

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: This listing is for an Yamaha G-5 Electric Guitar Combo Amp w/ Spring Reverb. This amp has some interesting history as it comes to us from Bill Cooper, owner of the historic American Recording Company here in Los Angeles. He commented that this was actually a favored amp for recording at their historic recording studio for many years. Who knows what albums and songs it was featured on!
American Recording Co. (often stylized as American Recording Company) was a renowned independent recording studio in North Hollywood, operational from the early 1960s through the 1980s. It was part of the San Fernando Valley's "hidden gem" studios, offering a low-key, distraction-free environment away from the glamour of central Hollywood, which appealed to artists seeking focused creativity. While not as flashy as Capitol or the Record Plant, it hosted sessions for several classic rock, pop, and singer-songwriter acts during the '60s and '70s golden era of album production. Based on historical accounts of L.A. studios and discographies, here are some of the top classic artists known to have recorded there:
Turtles-Tracks from their 1967 hit album Happy Together, including the iconic title track that topped the Billboard Hot 100.
Frank Sinatra-Vocal sessions for select tracks on albums like That's Life (1966) and other Capitol-era projects, leveraging the studio's intimate setup.
Glen Campbell -Parts of Wichita Lineman (1968), a defining country-pop classic with his signature guitar work.
Three Dog Night, Steppenwolf, Donovan, Huey Lewis, and many others.
