WORKING CONDITION: Very Good. This LA-4 is smooth yet aggressive at higher compression ratios. The VU meter operates as it should, and the overload LED is functional.

PHYSICAL CONDITION: Good. The face is clean with only a single hash mark on the output level. The metal chassis shows signs of age, but nothing is bent or malformed. The VU meter lamp is bright, and the housing assembly is in top condition, as is the barrier strip on the rear of the unit.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: This listing is for a Vintage Urei LA-4 Half-Rack Mono 2U Compressor Limiter. The Urei LA-4 is a vintage half-rack (2U height) optical compressor and limiter introduced in 1977 as the successor to the LA-3A. Unlike its predecessors, it moved from discrete Class-A circuitry to integrated circuits (ICs) and replaced the traditional T4 opto-cell with an LED-based optical design. It is highly regarded for its "punchy" and "attitude-filled" sound on acoustic guitars, vocals, and bass.
