PHYSICAL CONDITION: Very Good- All the mics show some blemishes and wear around the waist and body section, but the grilles are in excellent condition with no dings, dents, or discoloration. These have been under professional use for many years, and they clearly were handled with lots of care and respect. Fully intact, clean, and each mic is structurally sound. 

Note: The mic-to-power supply cables and extender cables all have a "Tacky" texture to them due to the aging process of the rubber. Each cable works fine and is intact, however.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: This listing is for a very rare trio of Neumann M50 "Blue Conversion" Microphones, with custom cases and power supplies. 

Before Blue Microphones (B.L.U.E.) became a behemoth microphone manufacturer, they were a small team of techs that refurbished and modified vintage tube microphones in the mid-to-late 1990s under the skilled hands of Mārtiņš Saulespurēns.

These M50s were refurbished from the ground up with new PSUs, new electronics (including a transformer), New Old Stock AC701k tubes, New Old Stock Neumann gold-sputtered matching diaphragms, and original spherical capsule mounts.

It is understood that they only refurbished 12 of these M50 mics (Four Sets of 3) and were so done specifically to be a matched trio that would be an accurate representation of the original M50 with modern, reliable components.

We are selling these mic sets on behalf of a Grammy-winning audio engineer, music mixer, and producer, Brad Heahnel. 

As Brad tells us, he first came across these Blue-modded M50s when doing a scoring session at Air Studios in London. He loved the way they sounded and, when back in Los Angeles, put the word out that he was looking for his own set. An engineer at Capital Studios had a set and sold it to Brad.

"These are Brad Haehnel’s trio of M50s, which have been in use for the past 30 years or so. They have been regularly maintained by David Bock and still feature their original AC701K tubes.

Most recently, they were used on the Decca Tree for Avatar: Fire and Ash. Their credits also include films such as Where the Crawdads Sing, The Mitchells vs. The Machines, Pixar’s Onward and The Good Dinosaur, along with many, many more.

These are truly amazing microphones and are part of the 12 complete rebuilds carried out by Blue Microphones."
