Details
WORKING CONDITION: Very Good- This bass is a joy to play. Flatwound strings give it a mellow, smooth sound. Great action makes for easy fretting up and down the neck with all clean notes along the way. Gibson got it right the first time with this bass. Volume and Tone controls work well, albeit the tone control imparts only a mild change in tone, probably because it still has its original paper tone capacitor! Owned and used by a consummate studio professional, this bass is session-ready!
PHYSICAL CONDITION: Very Good- The finish is peppered (seasoned?) with lots of nicks and scratches and general loving marks of use and handling proudly gained over the last 70 years. The finish is checking on the top, back, sides, neck, and headstock. It looks delightful and warm. Original tuners in great shape and work nicely. All mechanics and parts are intact and good for another 70 years.
Note: While the original case is in great shape overall, the brown protective coating is dry and has started to shed in numerous spots.
