PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: This listing is for a Boulder Jensen Twin Servo 990 6-Channel Microphone Preamplifier. It is uncommon to find two channel versions of these amps but to get a 6 Channel version is extremely rare. We received this particular unit from the original owner who custom ordered it from Boulder and according to him, it was the last one produced. 

Considered to be one of the finest mic preamplifiers ever built, renowned for its Hi-fidelity and headroom. It is commonly compared to the Hardy M-1 Preamp for the following reason:

From a message on a gearspace forum:

"The Boulder mic preamp (actually known as the "Jensen Twin Servo 990") was introduced in 1986, built for Deane Jensen by Boulder. My M-1 Mic Preamp came out in 1987 and I showed it to Deane on a trip I took to LA soon after. Around 1988 or so, Deane decided to cancel The Boulder preamp for various reasons. He asked me if I would be willing to build a preamp to his specifications using my M-1 frame and overall concept as the basis for it.

So, the "Jensen Twin Servo 990 Mic Preamp" was reborn in the M-1 package format. There were some circuit differences, including a different package for the 990, different approaches to the input bias current compensation, DC servo, etc. But the basic concept was the same: The Jensen JT-16 input transformer ("JE" back then), two 990 op-amps in series, the JT-11-BMQ output transformer, and no coupling capacitors in the signal path. So The Boulder and the Hardy versions should sound very similar (YMMV). I think my package is much better, fitting four channels in a single rack space, better meters, lighted buttons, etc. The home page of my website shows a photo of the Jensen Twin Servo."  -John Hardy

PHYSICAL CONDITION: Excellent - There are a few scuffs on the item. However, everything is well built and perfectly intact. Overall, the physical condition is excellent.
